who would have thought
that talk of blackberry pies
and apple crumble
rug cleaning and twins
sweet talk of bad weather
gift wrapped in a bow
could be so special
any skerrick of generosity and warmth
is rare and overwhelming
on this vile politesse free
environmentally destructive planet
inhabited by self obsessed self analytical
greedy clanging cymbals
unimaginative networking operators
clinging on to the tail of Mammon
climbing to the dark place sans sunshine
in the hope of recognition and societal success
nature will blow us all out of the water
laughing as she does it
will we cry, wail and moan of doom?
Yes
"Oh shrieve me,shrieve me holy man!"
will some of us laugh as well?
Yes
will those be labelled as bitter and twisted
cynical nutters?
Yes
will they care?
No
