Imagine 3WW

imagine if you could take me as i am
undaunted by our differences
imagine if you were to smooth
the wrinkles out of 'we'
mr and mrs cruel
imagine if i could forgive you
imagine if you could forgive me
i could imagine that you might miss me
imagine putting a halt to
all these imaginings
all these little ' if ' footprints
washed away by the tide
leaving nothing

  2. Awww... how sad. 'Leaving nothing.'
For such a tiny word 'If' has some huge events behind it, doesn't it.
This is a powerful write, especially more so because it wastes not one word, each one is effective in reaching its goal.

  3. I imagine, it could. The fault is acknowledged on both ends..."leaving nothing" except what the current brings in...i imagine it healing.

  4. Easy to be caught up in imaginings and what ifs. Though provoking imagery of footprints in life. Beautiful writing!

  5. I hope forgiveness is found on both sides and if it will make you happy all will be well.
Your link is not working on 3word wednesday today's post.

  6. Be still my heart! You managed to include one of my all time favorite pieces of music ~~ I've already played it four times this morning +++ a great poem to match. Thanks!!

  7. Imagine if there is nothing to imagine! To imagine is to hope to achieve to the nearness of what's imagined. Not to halt the 'ifs' so that some semblance of success is seen!

  9. There is so much one can imagine. Some things are possible and some things are not. That is the reality, but it doesn't hurt to imagine them. The ending is sad though....the leaving of nothing. Thanks for sharing with Poetry Jam.

  11. I think that is why the sea has such fascination when our imagined footprints on the sands of time are washed away as though we had never existed. Very thoughtful post indeed.

  12. I have to agree, so sad! Sometimes it's just way to easy to get lost in that see of "what ifs." Thanks so much for playing along at Poetry Jam this week!

  13. Just a hint of possibility in this. It reminds me of John Lennon's "Imagine." If we could forgive what a different world we would have.

  14. i was not satisfied with my comment yesterday...i reread it...if the ifs washed away perhaps that means they are no longer ifs and i think that would be a rather beautiful thing because then we would live in a world that was much better...esp if we could accept each other...that would be huge...

  19. To me it speaks of the possibility of new beginnings; but then I am no poet.
