Sunday Scribblings

the owl
knew that pussy cat
was intending to sing
as soon as he espied
the small guitar

he started to have regrets
about spending all that money
on a runcible spoon,minces quinces
and painting the boat pea green

it was too late now
thousands of kids
knew this poem by heart

he would just have to suffer
pussy's piercing pizzicatos
for the moment until they reached
the land where the bong trees grow
planning to keep pussy permanently
bonged out
to stop this infernal racket

he blocked his ears
and wondered why owls were
considered to be wise

  3. This is awesome!!! The story rocks, but also the sound and word choices are excellent.

    Love this:
    "on a runcible spoon,minces quinces
and painting the boat pea green"

    And this section:
"he would just have to suffer
    pussy's piercing pizzicatos
for the moment until they reached
the land where the bong trees grow
    planning to keep pussy permanently
    bonged out"

    Great ending as well. :)

  4. We all have the strangest of friends. I loved the use of the word pizziCATo and marvelled at your use of the use of Bong trees which up until now I hadn't realised their worth! A post to make my day.

  7. This was a delightful retelling. Especially good, the owl's regrets along with the reality that all kids know the song by heart. What a dilemma! And your last line was a kicker. Great write, hon. Amy
