one hot summer's day
three polite little nuns
go down to the river
to cool off
for some fun
poor luvs in serge habits
don't have many treats
so they indulge in a
some icy ginger beer
which is sadly rather sweet
they giggle and wiggle
their toes in the water
bragging naughty nuns
charity's daughters
enjoying themselves
in such a delight
until a dikkie old duck
gliding by
gave them an awful fright

Brilliant and I love the photos. :-)

ha...we all need a bit of fun in our lives...cant imagine a life so stoic i could not...
ReplyDeleteSmiles - except that's a swan in the picture and I wouldn't find that at all funny. Those birds are strong - they can break arms with their wings!
ReplyDeleteDont be silly ...that is an old english dikkie duck called Dodo!:)
ReplyDeleteForsooth, I do not have a fetish for nun's big toes!
DeleteOh everyone says that!
DeleteIf it looks like a swan, quacks like a swan and swims like a swan, it's def a duck.
DeleteCorrect..Finally, someone who understands!:)
Deleteso charming and delightful! and such a fun photograph!
ReplyDeletethank you for participating at Poetry Jam!

There are nun so blind (drunk) as them what wont see (a duck). Kind of.
ReplyDeleteI said ginger beer, creetcha feetcha!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are telling a food chemist that there is no alcohol in ginger beer? Mmmm?
ReplyDeleteThat is sort of a more sophisticated version of a food taster in medieval times...at least you do not have to ingest the food to detect the poison anymore...this is a good thing Cosmo...we don't want a winged cosmo cherub playing a lyre on a cloud just yet.
ReplyDeleteSurely an eternity and 'an eternity plus a little bit' is the same thing? Both would be far too long when it comes to my lyre abilities. Even Grieg's Morning palls after the first few millenia.
DeleteEven a nun
ReplyDeletedeserves a bit of fun
in the sun!
I know some wonderful nuns who look after abandoned babies.People just leave them on the doorstep. It has been my priviledge to be of some assistance to them.Yes nuns do deserve a few treats.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why but Nuns always make me smile. There is something a little crazyy about them, a little ecentric.
ReplyDeleteIt has been years Russell.Good to see you again.Just as well you caught up with me before I join the cloistered nunnery:)
Deleteoh yes, that's fabulous
ReplyDeleteDrunken nuns, great fun.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem.
ReplyDeleteFun poem about nuns. Made me grin. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteA nun's life needn't be all borax and bowing..ginger beer and some time with the sistas sounds pretty good!
ReplyDeleteHa..."borax and bowing"..good one!
DeleteI enjoyed the wacky humour of this. Great fun.
ReplyDeleteUgly duckling turned to angry swan by the time I got here...! Still made me laugh though!
ReplyDeleteThanks Stanski
DeleteBwahaha. Been there, done that...only without the beer. And serge...arrgh.
ReplyDeleteReally! Probably was all " bowing and borax" as jaerose said.
DeleteThis is a fun one that gave me a smile. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peggy.
DeleteLovely so playful and delightful!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
And you!
DeleteGladdens the heart; makes light the day...
ReplyDeleteWell I 've done a good thing then ...thanks Berowne.
DeleteI love that with your work you think outside the square. I tried to zoom in on their bottle of drink to see exactly what it was they were drinking but am no wiser. A great lesson here in that "whatever your path in life always keep a sense of humour".
ReplyDeleteSneaky oldegg. Trust you to be peering for labels:)
DeleteSense of humour will get you through everything especially if you have some maddies to share it with :)
nice choice of image and cheerfully told =)
ReplyDeletelucychili
Thanks Miss Chilli!
DeleteI think these charming nuns deserved a nice break ... minus the duck!
ReplyDeleteThe Duck stays!
DeleteThe duck can be difficult on his bad days but when he is being a sweet fluffy duck one tends to forgive him everything:)
ReplyDelete...i tell you... i've once lived under nuns' care so i should know they're the funniest of people to live with... haha... i really enjoyed it - both photo and your words... a wonderful read & experience to me... smiles...
ReplyDeletesuch a fun poem and picture!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! That old English Dikkie Duck will have some penance to do :)
ReplyDeletefun! you tell the story of the picture perfectly. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, dang that old duck anyway!
ReplyDeleteSilk and Sky
Delightful poem and photo!
ReplyDeleteand (sorry, was raised by avid birders) that's a swan, not a duck-though you were spot on with the fright-swans are very territorial and hiss and peck :-)
Dodo duck can be like that too sometimes:)
DeleteHi Rall, love the bit about 'dickie old duck'!
ReplyDeleteMy 3WW is HERE
Old duck person does not want to be called that so I have been instructed to desist. That is how he talks.
DeletePlease desist from using such unflattering terminology when describing my person ( do you see!)
This is hilarious ~
