Disturbing The Peace

one  hot summer's day
three polite little nuns
go down to the river
to cool off
for some fun

poor luvs in serge habits
don't have many treats
so they indulge in a
some icy ginger beer
which is sadly rather sweet

they giggle and wiggle
their toes in the water
bragging naughty nuns
charity's daughters

enjoying themselves
in such a delight
until a dikkie old duck
gliding by
gave them an awful fright

  3. Smiles - except that's a swan in the picture and I wouldn't find that at all funny. Those birds are strong - they can break arms with their wings!

    2. If it looks like a swan, quacks like a swan and swims like a swan, it's def a duck.

  8. And you are telling a food chemist that there is no alcohol in ginger beer? Mmmm?

  9. That is sort of a more sophisticated version of a food taster in medieval times...at least you do not have to ingest the food to detect the poison anymore...this is a good thing Cosmo...we don't want a winged cosmo cherub playing a lyre on a cloud just yet.

    1. Surely an eternity and 'an eternity plus a little bit' is the same thing? Both would be far too long when it comes to my lyre abilities. Even Grieg's Morning palls after the first few millenia.

  10. Even a nun
    deserves a bit of fun
    in the sun!

  11. I know some wonderful nuns who look after abandoned babies.People just leave them on the doorstep. It has been my priviledge to be of some assistance to them.Yes nuns do deserve a few treats.

  12. I don't know why but Nuns always make me smile. There is something a little crazyy about them, a little ecentric.

  14. A nun's life needn't be all borax and bowing..ginger beer and some time with the sistas sounds pretty good!

  21. I love that with your work you think outside the square. I tried to zoom in on their bottle of drink to see exactly what it was they were drinking but am no wiser. A great lesson here in that "whatever your path in life always keep a sense of humour".

Sense of humour will get you through everything especially if you have some maddies to share it with :)

  23. I think these charming nuns deserved a nice break ... minus the duck!

  24. The duck can be difficult on his bad days but when he is being a sweet fluffy duck one tends to forgive him everything:)

  28. Delightful poem and photo!
and (sorry, was raised by avid birders) that's a swan, not a duck-though you were spot on with the fright-swans are very territorial and hiss and peck :-)

    1. Old duck person does not want to be called that so I have been instructed to desist. That is how he talks.

Please desist from using such unflattering terminology when describing my person ( do you see!)
