i remember the day
the date
where i was
the weather
when the lights went out
amazing how adept one gets
gavotting a beserka mazurka
dancing in the dark
year in year out
once the light has been snuffed out
it cannot be duplicated
darkness velvets its own glow
no one should quibble about that
great line 'darkness velvets its own glow
ReplyDeleteno one should quibble about that'
"darkness velvets its own glow" I like this line. makes me wish it was dark already so I might dance away the night.
ReplyDeletebaserka mazurka...ha...i like that...
ReplyDeleteand so true once the light has been snuffed...
sobering that....
I really like this one, especially: darkness velvets its own glow.
ReplyDeletedarkness velvets its own glow - this is excellent and so descriptive. i like the feeling it gives. Well Done
ReplyDeleteYes, there're some goodness in a bad situation! Nicely Rallentanda!
ReplyDeleteHank
...since my feet were not designed for beats i guess darkness would fit very well my hidden 'talent' in dancing.... hihi... smiles...
ReplyDeleteHere's to never snuffing out that light!!
ReplyDeleteI sure won't quibble!
ReplyDeleteMy very unliterary reaction: whoa! This one stops me short and makes me think.
ReplyDeleteYear in and year out...stark images
You certainly tease us and intrigue us with your writing. Dancing in the dark is quite a sensual thing to do. Don't think I could manage gavotting a bazerka mazurka with my old knees though.
ReplyDeleteNonsense of course you can!
DeleteI won't quibble for sure and dancing especially 'the beserka mazurka' hehehe!! is not my cup of tea!! ;)
ReplyDeleteNanka you have not lived until you beserka the mazurka:)
Delete"beserka mazurka" - I have this image...shouldn't I know, but I do.
ReplyDeleteBut, meanwhile, I really like the line "darkness velvets its own glow".
Beserka mazurka is that dance you do around the hills hoist during the full moon when everyone has gone to sleep
ReplyDeleteall the dogs howl
cosmo smiles
the moon smiles back
Oh. So we did have the same image. Wont you get cold?
ReplyDeleteYou are the moon dancer Cosmo...not me...I don't have a Hills Hoist:)
ReplyDeleteOwoooooooo!
DeleteUh-oh .. it's prozac time again!
DeleteI like this take on dancing in the dark. Permanent darkness would be not fun despite its velveting its own glow. I also enjoyed the ocean haikus posted just above this. Poor Ocean with the hippie parents. I knew a few kids with those kinds of names over the years.
ReplyDelete... I am pondering the same line as Loredana - truly an amazing idea.
