Two weeks to go. Mince pies and cakes have all been made. ( Not true, I buy all of mine) But what I do need is a list of "feel good" movies for the holiday period. We watch the same ones every year . I would like suggestions for some new ones. So if you have any favourites perhaps you could leave them in my comment box and I will compile a list for all of us to enjoy. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteMy top three:
ReplyDelete"It's a Wonderful Life" - 1946
"Harvey" - 1950
"Scrooge" - 1970
... and one I've never actually watched but understand it is a sporting movie:
"Debbie Does Dallas" - 1978
I have only watched Love Actually and Amelie out of these .... time to catch the rest too :-)
ReplyDeleteYou will like all of them Amrit.
ReplyDeleteI am a bit of a movie troglodyte, watching few. I did write to Helene Hanff once (she of Charing Cross Rd) and got a most charming reply.
ReplyDeleteI read the book as well.. Delightful!
ReplyDeleteTime to start watching good movies. You are missing out on one of the great joys of life!
However I would be wary of Dodo's recommendations. I checked one I had not heard of and ( gasp) it is a porn movie Can you think of a suitable punishment for that wicked old avian?
Pornogrphic, you say? I had no idea! I believed it was a sports film about a young woman struggling to make a success of her life. As a poet I thought you'd appreciate the alliteration in the title, 'tis all.
ReplyDeleteYou must forgive me and pass on my apologies to all your readers. .
Hmm..yeah sure!
ReplyDeleteOnce you get hooked on Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources do try My Mother's Castle and My Father's Glory.
ReplyDeleteI have both of these in my collection as well." Les Quatre Cent Coups" is one of my all time favourites too. Mon Dieu...Milton et Francais...Who would have suspected such a treasure trove of intellectualism lay dormant in our southern
Deletestates (ha...sorry could not resist!:)Thank you for your contribution oldegg.
Hi Rallentanda! I love the holiday movies. One of my favorites is the Christmas Carol by the Muppets :-) Very cute, and of course Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. That's from many childhood memories...enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah V
