Mothers Day

poetry jam: midweek motif poets united

it's mother's day on sunday
another lovely lunch
And
although i am a mother
i'm still a little child
i miss those arms about me
when blue and feeling down
a cup of tea and bikkies
a big hug and kiss
to wipe away my tears
always a parcel of goodies
to take home and a note
squeezed into my palm
'buy something nice to cheer yourself up darling'
i will always be Mummy's girl
i miss her

  2. I understand your feeling, Rallentanda. I think we always miss our mothers when we don't have them any more.... no matter what our ages! I remember my mother when she was quite old telling me one that that SHE missed HER mother. Now I understand...

  9. This is so poignant. I remember how I felt when my mother died - there was no longer any buffer, any safety between me and - everything: life, death....now I was the matriarch. A beautiful and very touching poem.

  14. Beautifully captured. We all seek comfort and assurance form someone, but few can equal a mother in that role.

  17. You capture the spiral of the generations well, Rall... Something that is easy to forget momentarily - that our parents were once children too...
