Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

basho's lovely frog
in the future will no longer
cling to my screen door

he will become extinct
destroyed by fracking and mining
in this region

i will miss
his comforting croaks
in duet with  crickets
the signature tune for summer nights
on the star strewn Liverpool Plains

croak croak basho boy
plop merrily in  puddles
while you still can

  1. Of all the creatures in the world sometimes I think that mankind has the smallest brain. We always seems to want to make the world unbalance.

  2. Fracking and mining in your area too? It's becoming *big* here in Pennsylvania (USA) too -- with terrible consequences. Also nearby West Virginia, where people can light their tap water. I'm not exaggerating.

Having said that -- this is a great series -- a great blend of nostalgia, longing, bitterness, and beauty.

    1. Everyone has been fighting to stop the mining for years....the government has just granted a license to a Chinese corps to mine in this area Liverpool Plains. The Liverpool Plains is famous for its agriculture. No other region on this planet has more fertile soil than here.. It is the food bowl of NSW. I cannot express what I feel about this decision....well actually I can but it is so scary I best keep it to myself!!!!!!!!
