On The Road With Handel

a fast drive on the open road
allegro firing up the creative juices
cold snap over

the dark mountain range
frames a few fat friesians
dotted along the plains
the old rusty sheds
never looked so good

and the black black night
with the dark dead quiet
punctuated
only by a bird having a bad dream is
to die for

so happy to be back
amongst the country dogs
chooks cows cats galahs
roos and even the joe blakes

in town
a cow cockie saw me
struggling to load the  van
said
here, let me do it for ya luv
i almost burst into tears

  3. I can hear and feel your relief to be home in a rural setting after the city. ME TOO! (Just got back.)

  4. To be united with a familiar place again is wonderful. I loved the flow and the rhythm. Well-penned. :-)

  5. LOVE the music. It goes perfectly with your perfect poem. I love the dark, dark night and the bird having a bad dream. Lovely thoughts for what sounds like a wonderful trip.
