Night

Mid Week Motif PU

night
and the yellow pleasure of candle light
cuddle tock of the clock and brown books
green eye'd cat by the fire
wet roses bending over the pane
in the song of the rain
a loved childhood poem by hugh mc crae
read over and over again
fed my dreams
made me realise that words
arranged in a certain way can inspire
paint pictures sow the seeds of desire

they gave me warmth and comfort
when winter nights were much colder
than they are now

  1. YES! I think what I love best about night is crawling into bed with the current book, which I have done every night since I was five. The soft light on the page and the pages that take me away......I so loved this poem!

  2. "the yellow pleasure of candle light"

Your poem makes me know that poetry would be impossible without night!

  5. Words sustain us - for some they are as valuable as the elements themselves..sometimes that can be painful but is also perhaps the greatest, most reliable gift we can be given...

  9. I saw the image of a child bundled up and safe. A lovely place to be on a cold night.

  10. A lovely poem redolent with warmth and cosiness, Rall! Nothing like sweet comfortable domesticity on a winter's night.
