Rall's Thoughts On Marriage

women want nests
children and husbands
in a hurry when
the biological clock
is  tick tocking

they live
happily ever
after the divorce

not a good basis
for a long term
relationship

in Scandinavian countries
you could not marry the five cats
only one ( at the moment)
it's ok if you're the same sex

you would be happy together
even in an egg carton
marriage fairy tales

most likely
a married man
danger
start running

just remember
the seven dwarves
will not be around
to help with baby sitting
or the dirty dishes
neither will prince charming

two thorny blooms
gnarls prickles and scars
disillusioned disappointed
find each other

  1. God knows what is meant by 'happily ever after' but it's not bad to have a stable partner to grow old with and see good and rough days together than running after the illusion called happiness...always enjoy your wry humor :)

    1. Everyone wants stability but at what cost? Sometimes the price is too high.

  2. Haha! And yet, who's laughing? I loved the days of innocence, but your last four lines are closer to the truth of my own experience. And that is beautiful! I love the 5 cats = 1 partner verse, too, but can't even imagine contending with more than 2 cat personalities at one time. Taken all together, this is a marvelous poem that travels far.

  3. I guess after you know who you are you can look for a realistic prince (no need for charming - just acceptance.)
    I like your honesty Rall

  7. This clearly should be banned. The whole idea of having a partner is to be in love, happy and your life fulfilled. Now you have gone and told the truth. Bad girl!

    1. Well it wouldn't be the first time I was banned for writing truthful poetry LOL

  8. LOL, you and I are the "meeting of true minds", LOL. What a downer for the romantic among us. (I am a romantic too, mind you, I just accept it didnt happen for me.) I enjoyed each of these with smiles and cackles. As it should be. Cackle.

  11. Oh, what a cute and clever way to tackle this prompt. I particularly love the Scandinavian cats (great throwaway line in conclusion) and Snow White.

  12. Good one, Rall, because it's all true of course. Yet I liked the closing. Only if we learn to manage to put up with the thorns and prickles, the beautiful flowers will blossom...
