An Afternoon With Alfred and Franz

Alfred Brendel plays Franz Schubert's Impromptu in Gb major D899

what i have learnt
and
all i know is
happiness must never
be compromised

if it presents itself
in whatever form
grab its little tail
before it slips away

it doesn't visit often

all i know is
happiness can be found
in the quality
of the moment

at this moment
i am in love

at this moment
i feel blessed

at this moment
i feel gratitude

to be able to marvel at
the stunning beauty
of  a pale pink and winter grey sky
on a cold still winter's afternoon
by the warm glow of a fire

with alfred and franz

  1. That's an interesting point.. living entirely in the moment does take away largely the need to compromise.

  5. Such lovely and wise words. Yes, happiness is in the moment. Thank you for the music and the happiness in this moment. I have it right by its tail.

  6. I think that means you know an awful lot - grabbing that little tail requires practice and effort.. Also thank you for your wonderful comment.. Your poem is like the zenith of what happens when you follow those steps

  7. Interesting. Your poem makes me think that it is important to compromise when dealing with others, but never with yourself. Very smart. Thanks.

  8. The change of seasons is an endless round and to witness that is a gift in itself as the clock ticks on.

  10. Happiness is where you find it. Often unexpectedly. And seldom when or where you look for it. Good music and warm fires are a great start.
