As a good poet once said it is all about" having the same vibe and blending"... the meeting of intelligent minds overcomes and surpasses all differences.
Are Peter and Jane characters in early readers? We had Dick and Jane, with exactly the same pairings of males and females (pants and dresses)--and they were white and middle class with yards and pets.
By the mid-1970s, in Canada, they had added more children, but can't for the life of me, remember, who they were. Sigh. And yes, they were white, middle class kids, with backyards and pets. Just like, most of the kids of my class had, living in, a rural Ontario village.
my younger brother had Peter (not Dick) & Jane experience (in the early 70's) in Zambia, I was too old for that...lol! but that Ladybird pic. is nostalgic for me...
Ah that early influence! (Not sure it's what the authors intended, lol.)
In answer to your comment on mine – thanks, I am dry, and safe on a hill, and well-stocked with food etc. But the outside surroundings are very wet indeed.
LOL. I LOVE it! Am cackling.
ReplyDeleteI read Dick and Jane as a kid. I don't know we're dinosaurs or not, but at least we have interesting things to discuss. :)
