The Kindness Of Strangers

he was drawn
to her vulnerability

she - a distraught
message in a bottle
floundering
in a vast sea of aloneness

he became her rock
her lighthouse
a touch stone to the norm
always within reach

she loved him
in the way
persephone loved hades
careful to leave
a trail of pomegranate seeds
to find a way back to him
no matter how many times
she tried to escape

  1. I am always delighted in your poetic inventiveness with the touch of humour which puts a grin on my face.

  2. So it begins and kindnesses become obligations and obligations entrap and then the dilemma of loving and needing freedom arises. Oh, I would that we all could be better strangers. Jacques says this to Orlando--or vice versa--in As You Like It. It is meant to be an insult, but is only a display of wit. In fact Jacques longs to spend more time with someone he sees as his equal.

  5. Which begs the question, why DID she try to escape! This is an evocative read. Well done.
