Winter Wednesday

wednesday already
life is
too busy
too fast

there are
too many things
to do

i sit for a moment
catching the last of the sun
on the dinghy which everyone uses
as a seat

stare across
at g's place
at a's place
at my old place

and mourn
the fact
we are all
dead now

  8. Captivating even before the intriguing finale, which immediately deepened it.

  9. Whether you drifted back just to have a look or age itself tells you are not the person you were so many of us must feel the same way. I returned to England a few years ago and looked up all the old places where my late wife and used to live. I shouldn't have for I just felt like crying.

  10. Read this a few times. Each time the depth of this poem became clearer to me. Made me focus on life, things to do and I wonder if death is really about peace. Good writing.
