Bitter Sweet

he had gone
just before christmas
she felt renewed
an enormous weight lifted
from her crippled shoulders
found herself smiling again
pleased to be alive

ran into a distant acquaintance
not seen for many years
wow this is some marriage you have
you are positively glowing

she smiled politely
am actually getting a divorce
sorry...must fly
got to catch up
on a life

  2. Love this! My divorce was in 1975, and still I remember how my stomach pain lifted as soon as I moved out.

  9. Reading this my mind pictured the many marriages that stuck together despite differences just to save face to live with hurt and disappointment all their lives.

  10. Ah! Yes, the miraculous end! One thing I've learned in my life is that things tend to happen much more quietly than we'd care for in most cases.Sigh!
