My Country (I Love a Sunburnt Country) [lyrics] For The Weekend

Claudio Bravo

Sunburnt Country

hanging out with friends
after a hard day's yakka
her favourite thing

rain drops without roses
would be appreciated
it's drier than a dead dingo's donger

french washes and baths
measured in ice cream containers
oh the joy of country life

the wide brown land
is getting burnt to a crisp
and it's not yet summer

for  all those in nsw
whose dreams are going up in flames
stay strong - rain will come

  1. Surely you mean for us to laugh at this line:

    it's drier than a dead dingo's donger

I mean, I couldn't help myself! I almost spat my coffee out on the keyboard! What a great way to begin my Sunday morning. Now, if only rain would come to quench the fires...

  5. For a country that is pretty dry we are fairly liberal with water allocation...and misuse! However South Australia will get their desalinisation plant working to help the eastern states.

  7. I just read about the catastrophic fire incidents and warnings right up to Sydney. Hope everyone stays safe.

  9. I hear the fires are 40 kms from Sydney and there is a smoke blanket over the city. My heart goes out to the firefighters grappling with the flames. Hope everyone stays safe.

  11. I love your approach to this topic, Rall, especially the Aussie humour, and and can't imagine what those fires must be like. I'd send you rain if I could, we have plenty of it at the moment, with floods up North.

  12. "dead dingo's donger," indeed! If the rains don't come more will dry and die, and so I wish I could send some rain your way. I pray for it. Those little ice cream containers are way too small. Love the song, and the brownness celebrated.

  13. I laughed and your clever alliteration. I hope everyone gets rain down there, though I know I hope in vain with the way our climate is changing.
