Woman Rescues Burnt Koala From Australian Bushfire

Awakening

awakening
to the plight of our little bears
good people try
to save them
literally giving the shirt
off their backs

the koala hospital
manned by many volunteers
does its best

thousands are destroyed
in the bush fires
some deliberately lit

we walk alongside
dangerous destructive folk
not all of them look evil
but  i've noticed lately
a lot do

*shudder *

  1. Rallentanda,

I have seen these sad instances on the television news. It's very hard to consider that someone would deliberately set out to cause these fires and put innocent creatures like the koala bears at great and painful peril, but they often do.
As you say, some look innocent until we look more deeply and see the horrible truth..awakening to the facts!

  2. Only a fully awakened woman would have ripped off her shirt to save a koala from the flames.

  3. Ours is still a living planet because of such souls.

  4. To save a life, to take that step and putting another's safety first is an incredible awakening!❤️

  5. This is a sad awakening indeed. May those good and kind folk remain eyes opened.

  6. As the evil grows, so does the good, yet evil is so good at hiding. I shudder, just as in your poem.

  7. Rall, that is what I wrote about today too. The film just kills me......the poor little fellow, its cries, and the many who did not escape the flames. Horrible, horrible, horrible. I am thankful for her good heart. Saving a life is no small thing. But the big picture is daunting these days. I have always been so hopeful, but hope is ebbing, my friend.

  8. Sadly our punishment for those endangering life is much less than it should be, particularly with our protected native animals.

  10. So , sad to see the insensitive people lighting fires, but equally heart felt to see sensitive people saving lives.
