Surprise !!!

Fill in the balloon if you like !
Writers Pantry # 38

the van coughed and spluttered
just made it to the supermarket car park
how many times
had she told him to get a service check

ill fix it he says
you go shopping

after a while
she returns with a trolley
to a small  group gathered
in front of the car
sniggering and bemused

her husbands long legs
protrude from beneath the bonnet
the family jewels exposed in those old shorts
for the world to see

how many times
had she told him to wear underwear
when going out

she bent down
hastily rearranged the bits and bobs
to hide them from public scrutiny

when she stood up
she caught the puzzled gaze of her husband
standing by the car

he had been unable to get it started
he had called road service

  1. Bwahahaha! Thank you so much for this, Rall. My eyes are shining with tears of laughter. I can't wait to read this to my Piano Man--and a few friends--we all need a laugh, these days. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
