8. Tangerine

 

jimmy dorsey croons

on the old gramophone

last century 



 

 

 

 

 9. four sticks

 

four sticks only

cinnamon was a luxury

on the shopping list


10. When the levee broke


the rains came

burst the dam flooded the land

no ark to be found


11. dazed and confused

 

wartime casualty

staggering out of the jungle

he married the first girl he  clapped eyes on


12. no quarter

 

a haunting memory 

from lawrence of arabia

 no prisoners


 

Day 13 Kashmir


kashmir flower boats

picturesque - we don't see the machine guns

set up in the bushes



Day 14...  Stairway to Heaven

 

they all looked the same

could never work out which one came

with the directions to heaven

    Listened to Jimmy Dorsey and thoroughly enjoyed. Just checked and this was recorded before my time - phew!

  2. How I remember haunting the old record shops, and collecting the pop music records in the 1950's; I even rembere 'Tangerine'!

  7. Wonderful snippets to enjoy. Loved "Tangerine", which reminded me of songs that used to have words that were understood, and lyrics that made sense! So much of today's music is one or two lines, repeated endlessly over and over with a few "come on nows" thrown in. YUK

  8. I like the frugal shoppers buying four sticks of cinnamon at a time. A few stores in the US still allow that...
