The Trees Don't Need To Know
whispering grass don't tell the trees
cos the trees don't need to know
tell one tree and the whole rain forest becomes a gossip fest
with a lot of questions being asked about grass
if you hear the grass whispering
expect the approaching sound of sirens
the men in white coats are on their way
Sssshhhh...
ReplyDeletecomedy poem!
ReplyDeleteHow perfectly clever of you ... promise I won't say one word.
ReplyDeleteLovely video.
ReplyDelete"tell one tree and the whole rain forest becomes a gossip fest" Indeed
Happy Wednesday
much love...
Nice play on the word 'grass', with its slang meaning of informer. Although the men in white coats haven't come for me yet, I do believe the trees communicate with each other all the time, even across great distances – and with us too, if we know how to listen.
ReplyDeleteHow good it was as a youngster to wander off down by the river or in the dark woods to explore and play, imagining we were living in a different place, seeing wild animals and birds, picking wild flowers or taking our shoes and socks off and getting wet hoping our mothers don't notice. My own children were encouraged to do the same but sadly the grandchildren are not inclined that waywith sommany electronic devices now at hand.
ReplyDelete"if you hear the grass whispering...men in white coats are also on their way"! That is great!
ReplyDeleteA gossip fest indeed. How do we know trees don't communicate? Great poem and crazy good ending.
ReplyDeleteThe trees don't need to know. I suspect they are above all that anyway. Haha, love the humor
ReplyDeleteGossipy trees... love the idea
ReplyDeleteVery clever, Rall!
ReplyDeleteGiven their years of observance, trees would have much to discuss!! Love this.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of a study I read that trees actually communicate with each other through their root systems.
ReplyDeleteSo long as they don't talk to us verbally but through their beauty, we should keep the white coats away
