WEEKLY SCRIBBLINGS # 63

The Trees Don't Need To Know

whispering grass don't tell the trees

cos the trees don't need to know

tell one tree and the whole rain forest becomes a gossip fest

with a lot of questions  being asked about grass

if you hear the grass whispering

expect the approaching sound of sirens

the  men in white coats are  on their way

  3. Nice play on the word 'grass', with its slang meaning of informer. Although the men in white coats haven't come for me yet, I do believe the trees communicate with each other all the time, even across great distances – and with us too, if we know how to listen.

  4. How good it was as a youngster to wander off down by the river or in the dark woods to explore and play, imagining we were living in a different place, seeing wild animals and birds, picking wild flowers or taking our shoes and socks off and getting wet hoping our mothers don't notice. My own children were encouraged to do the same but sadly the grandchildren are not inclined that waywith sommany electronic devices now at hand.

  6. A gossip fest indeed. How do we know trees don't communicate? Great poem and crazy good ending.

  7. The trees don't need to know. I suspect they are above all that anyway. Haha, love the humor

  8. Given their years of observance, trees would have much to discuss!! Love this.

  9. This reminds me of a study I read that trees actually communicate with each other through their root systems.
So long as they don't talk to us verbally but through their beauty, we should keep the white coats away
