March Ekphrasis Challenge .....Earthweal

 OUR AUSSIE BIRDS

 when you are

tired of eating pine bark and gum nuts

why not try calamari rings

(cockatoos our larrikin birds )

these finches are on the suburban spectrum

colours that inspired fifties kitchens

grandma aprons and scone making

courtesy of the CWA

Country Womens Association

the little blue fairy wren

is everyone's favourite

so tiny so fragile so cute

* recent research suggests the males are doting fathers

they sing to their eggs and once  they hatch, the chicks

are able to recognise their parent's unique song.*

the flame robin

a fashion icon

comes in pink

as well as red

the rainbow lorikeet

is a modern mardi gras

kind of bird

having dust ups with

the  plain conservative drab pigeons

everyone has owned a budgie

at some time in their life

some guys even try to smuggle

them in their swimwear

budgie smugglers

but none of them have a patch

on the male gang gang cockatoo

this crusader bird  is so smart

just by looking at it

you know it knows everything

incredible presence and personality

gorgeous
