i used to have a job
i had to work with people
don’t know how i managed
twas like jumping from a steeple
finally i retired
a miracle i survived
now i sit on a cushion
and sew a fine seam
and feed upon strawberries
sugar and cream
( yeah sure....in my dreams
my retirement now
makes the job look easy )
nursery rhymes
are not good preparation
for the workplace
as a young child
this one
made a lasting impression
on me
i even remember
where i read it
when i read it
thinking at the time
it was a very good idea
Curly locks
Curly locks
Wilt thou be mine
Thou shalt not wash dishes
nor yet feed the swine

LOL, nothing in nursery rhymes prepared me for the regular lunacy of office life either.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that nursery rhyme so thanks for sharing. I love it though I'm not sure it really happens. Haha
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memory!! Now I'm going to have that little ditty in my head. I liked yours better. All my jobs were working with people. Now I'm glad to be writing alone on a cushion!!
ReplyDeletei love this, it made me smile and laugh. The pic with "The best thing about my job? The chair swivels" was an excellent opener. Love all of it.
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
Haha ... retirement ought to be a leisurely life after years of enduring "the office". :) But sometimes in hindsight the office wasn't so bad after all because that is usually when we're at our best health.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to "my retirement now / makes the job look easy." I may become disabled some day...I'm not going to retire!

Nice! I recently retired Love it Oh and 'feed upon strawberries' is the next thing I am going to do
ReplyDeleteNicely written and a great observation on life.
ReplyDeleteCould be worse. Could be a lot worse.
ReplyDeleteSo he promised then. Once he had the ring on her finger his tune changed! Working with people... I don't care for people at all. My son was once surprised how easily I talked to someone, because I don't like people. I told him I knew how to do it, I just didn't like to. My favorite job was at a farm store's pet location. I could give the customer's dogs the attention and they never knew!
