Sydney has recorded rain on nearly 50 per cent of days in 2024, allowing the year's total to already
exceed 800mm – that's around two thirds of the annual average
rain rain
please go away
wev'e had enough of wet
go to a dry place needing you
sod off
Sydney's affluent
suburbs are in the grips of a “man drought” with some of the wealthiest
suburbs the worst places for heterosexual women to date — with almost 20
fewer men for every 100 women.
if it
were raining men
that would be so welcome
for some young unattached ladies
woo hoo
I hope the rain means a lessened threat of wildfire this year........where I am we had a cool and rainy June, which is the way it is supposed to be in a rainforest. It was such a relief after two years of drought.
ReplyDeleteperiods of wet weather can encourage vegetation growth, increasing the amount of fuel available—and future bushfire risk, if dry weather follows....
ReplyDeleteToo much or too less of anything is not that good. But most of the time it is like this. I like both the literal and metaphorical rain. Well put.
ReplyDeleteRain really doesn't seem to be landing in the places where it is most needed. Some places too much, others way too little. And, ha, wouldn't it be nice if men could be 'rained' where they were needed.
ReplyDeleteThings are so bleak lately....tried to lighten things up a bit....Rall
DeleteI love the "rain rain go away" and "sod off!" .. thank you for the smiles!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to contrast what's too much and what's too little--tho not all would agree that raining men is a good idea. The video is hilarious!
ReplyDeleteHard to say which is worse, too much rain or too little. A fun poem indeed!! Thank you. annell
ReplyDeleteHope the rain now comes to good news in summer. I am not young or looking, but I think a problem, even with enough men, is finding quality men. No need to settle! Someone in an affluent suburb would be in great demand.
ReplyDeleteYou're so fortunate to have rain. It's desperately needed in my area. I enjoyed your poem! 🌞
ReplyDeleteYour weather sounds like ours..
ReplyDeleteI do like your poems 💜💜
Your second poem made me laugh, Rall (not that it is a laughing matter - it's a real issue). Great poems!
