What's Goin On ?..Homecoming

she had a home once

she had a life once

 stolen

by cruel circumstances

finding herself alone

devastated and destroyed

she slowly slowly

collected the broken bits

laboriously pieced them together

and like the snail

made them into a little home

she carried on her back

she became

her own homecoming

  1. This is perfect and is the journey we all make through the years, so many moves, so many losses, till we carry home with us into all the new places. Beautifully expressed.

  2. Wow! I love the idea that she became her own homecoming. I think sometimes one has to do that! Lovely poem.

  3. That resonates, we're all little snails..and great closing line.

  4. The snail image is heartbreaking yet very much powerful. And the close is spot on.

  5. When we are broken, this is exactly how we put ourselves back together, "the broken bits/laboriously pieced ... together." And the way this poem ends took my breath away. Absolutely brilliant.
