LAX....FOWC ..FRIDAY WRITINGS # 160...LOW BATTERY

the schools

are lax these days

kids have no respect for rules

discipline is necessary

at home

thus are
the consequences
you get people voting for
an imbecile like this
for president

a president
who thinks the matterhorn
is in canada

once
her beacon
stood high
shining bright
now on low battery
flickering
almost out

too true
could not happen
in a previous time
changes must be made
to stop convicted felons
becoming president

  2. Gosh, tell us how you really feel, lol! I am sure you're not alone in those sentiments. For myself, I am cynical about most politicians these days, of whatever stripe.

(I would have read Fandango's post but the link didn't work.)

  4. Me too. It's a very very upsetting situation. We are Aussies ... imagine what it's like for them. I felt I had to do something. I only have my words (not much I know ) but it demonstrates my sympathy commiserations and support for our American poet friends.

  5. Thank you for this piece of honest reflection. As a Canadian I do have to state the obvious ... that we're not for sale.

  6. A couple of days back, the Sec. of Defense nominee could not name a correct South East Asian country...

  7. I'm cynical about our US politicians, but are the ones in other countries any better?

  10. I love love love this. Did I say I love this? These are so comics are so spot-on. I still can't believe we voted this moron in again. As some smart person once said: "We get the leaders we deserve." Another reason to bring Civics back to the classroom. Starting in Elementary!!!

  11. As an American citizen, living through this bull and the very real threat the FOTUS (Felon of the United States) poses to people I love, I am angry and horrified. The only thing I will not do is resign myself to jadedness and hopelessness. That's what he wants. A jaded population that offers no resistance. I refuse to give him what he wants.

  12. That's right you cannot surrender and risk losing democracy. You fought for freedom before and won....you will need to bring about changes . I am confident that the Americans wont allow this terrible situation to happen again My only contact with Americans are the poets....they are a feisty intelligent lot with a keen sense of justice and egalitarianism...If the rest of population is mainly like them everything is going to be OK. Good luck and you have allies who think of you and support you.

    1. I love that optimism! I'm not so sure it won't happen again, as who knows what damage the next four years may bring. We survived four before, but things are ramped up this time. His former administration didn't know what to expect, and so many quit. Now, they know what they are hand-picked supporters, no questions asked. I know some Republican poets, but they do not support the President-elect!

  13. The rest of the world laughs at us .. how sad. Fully one half of our country does not have the keen sense of justice and egalitarianism you speak of .. tragic that we have come to this. Maybe it was inevitable given all the injustices so many suffer. Trump takes advantage of that ... to rally his troops. The Canada comic is beyond hysterical!!!

  14. Love the cartoons, and believe them as well. This country got what it deserves. I feel humiliated to be part of it.
