FRIDAY WRITINGS # 208

it was not the same this year
a sombre feeling pervaded the air
in spite of all the merriment efforts
the bondi massacre has left its mark
it will take a while for those of us
who live nearby to recover
and now
courtesy of the ginger meggs psycho
we have the caracas moment
a different kind of fireworks
2026
not off to a great start

  1. Too sadly true! Yes, the Bondi massacre must be even worse for those living nearby – and is still felt all over Australia too. And, yes again, I was hoping for a better year this time, but then came 'the caracas moment'.

  2. Very few things about 2025 were joyous .. and when they were, the negative managed to find a way to surface. I am hoping against all hope the new year treats us well, kindly, generously. With intelligence and grace.

  3. I would not have imagine the Bondi ordeal. My memory was of a rain so hard we couldn't get off the bus. Nicely told.
