Napowrimo poem Day 8
Prompt: Love. Past loves using metaphors
It was always dangerous
for me...Love
I'd walk into somebody's eyes
and lose myself completely
floating
in curlicue clouds of ectasy
for a short time
the rest ... rolling round in hell
shedding enough tears to fill
all the dams of a dry continent
This is good - walking into someone's eyes, getting drowned in love and only for a short while .... Loved your images.
ReplyDeleteappearances can be deceptive - can't they just...?
ReplyDeleteNice one!
nice one again Rall....those past loves....like to forget some of them...maybe the metaphors could have helped me forget...anyways thanks again for your words
ReplyDeleteNicely, I like the bit about shedding all those tears.
ReplyDeletePhew, I'm not sure how to approach this prompt, and I'm looking for inspiration. Love the pictures on your blog, btw.
gorgeous imagery... I hear ya Sista!
ReplyDeleteHi Rall,
ReplyDeleteI've visited already but think my comment must have been zapped! This is a super poem. I love everything about it.
And thanks for your kind words about mine. I'm heartened but, honest, I'm the thing that's churning!
Love the alliteration in this poem, especially "curlicue clouds of ecstasy". Beautiful and heart-wrenching too. Like Andy, I had a hard time with this prompt, but you have done a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteThis is a strong one.
ReplyDeleteI must say that I'm enjoying this challenge so much. The poems are of such a high standard. I'm finding it difficult getting around to reading all of them ...but I do, because I don't want to miss out seeing this is the last
ReplyDeletechallenge of RWP.
I hope I can break back into humour soon..like all humourists when we get serious it is always full on,no half measures!
Thankyou for all the generous comments so far.
Nicely written! I especially love the last line.
ReplyDeleteWow! That was an excellent poem!Love is so complex...not all good. I can't imagine capturing the highs and lows of it better than you just did. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, too true. Things aren't always happily ever after. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love the last line.

Quite a journey - from curlicue clouds to hell and enough tears to fill all the dams of a dry continent! I like this a lot.
ReplyDeleteDamned with dams? You show both sides of love well. I'm ready for the prompts to pick a subject I can handle better.
ReplyDeleteRall,
ReplyDeleteAhh! Simply beautiful! Excellent work! Thanks for commenting on my post earlier.
Pamela

ReplyDeletePhew! just to let you know that I've come back for more!
ReplyDeleteThis is funny and deep. Rall, you got Derrick churning.-Irene
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful last line, and "walking into somebody's eyes". I've been there. Great!
ReplyDeleteLove is the most dangerous thing. Well done!
