FOR THE WEEKEND

TANKA
5 7 5 7 7

you must come to see
the turquoise waves,white shell sand
the great ancient plains
and then we'll fly to the east
wear sarongs and watch legong

  1. Something for the weekend? You won't believe this but we've just been to see the tribute band 'The Australian Pink Floyd' in Manchester a few weeks ago.

    Happy Easter Rall!!!

  3. This old bird could never manage a fine, inticate dance. His webbed feet and plump body would just look silly in a sarong and he'd be on his back in no time, tummy exposed and ripe for a hearty tickle!

A wonderful evocative song - the two distinct quitars playing amid its mournful quality. It reminds me of lost possibilities because of self-imposed restraint and the intrusion of the eyes of the world.

And the poem offering liberation, soaring and dancing out of the bowl.

    Just beautiful.

  6. some fishes breathe air?
fish out of water, how rare
    yet the Dodo of fishes
flies and walks as she wishes
    it’s just seems so unfair

  7. she does take a lot of care
and loves to fly in the air
    yet the Dodo of fishes
has a yearning for the delicious
her sweet tooth stops not with a pear

  8. do take care
    only a fair share
    as Mullin's Seedling
    is prone to bruising
and rarely walks in the air

  9. Pears are not apples
    lemon gin slings
    too many tipples
    have made you unhinged

    a little bit loopy
    is quite a nice thing
    but my sweet little dodo
    is out on a binge

  10. Dodo’s a drinking?
    unheard of me's thinking
    to do such a thing
    would damage a wing
    a shrinking resulting

  11. Care for thy wings
    You silly sweet thing
    You only have two
    losing one will n'ere do
