her grandmother was indomitable yet humorous
her mother was complex, creative and eccentric
my mother was beautiful and sadly enigmatic
their mother is creative, sadly enigmatic and subversive
who knows how the line will follow on in the future
we all seem to muddle through somehow
we are mothers
and each in their own way, lovely.

ReplyDeleteAn ekphrastic poem. I love the way you get three generations in this poem without using so many words...good line at the end of the poem which leaves the reader thinking.

DeleteYep..What have you done with my strange little duck friend?I suspect foul play!
