miss wee wren
became distraught
by the teasing lettuces
her habitual flirtation
with them
needed to be regulated
so she found a new home
in a pineapple
away from iceberg and cos
impersonating an exotic
yellow parrot/ native finch
hoping they would not find her
This is charming and funny at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheilagh!
DeleteI liked this..a sweet little bird metaphor for those shy souls who would prefer to hide among brighter feathers and not be caught over-indulging in anything. Well written!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gay!
DeleteI am trying to imagine you crafting this scene out of a pineapple. However lettuces in my part of the country are quite benign you haven't been giving yours too much fertiliser have you?
ReplyDelete.Casting aspersions on my treatment of lettuces?
ReplyDeleteNasturtiums.
DeleteCasting nasturtiums....far more poetic:)
DeleteThere are some very clever pineapple carvers out there in the world!
ReplyDeleteI believe that you are a great friend of the lettuce.
" Lettuce be sensible Darling" Brief Encounter Noel Coward:)
