Mid Week Motif....Poets United

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift.

Albert Einstein

the mad scientist means well
forever trying
to squeeze his blinkered reality
into a test tube over a bunsen burner

head buzzing around with
countless equations attempting to
solve the mysteries of the universe
clinically on paper

science has served mankind well
but its very nature  has limitations
it can also be used for evil

the mad scientist sometimes
becomes arrogant
forgets his humanity
denying the existence of a
higher being whom is beyond
our human comprehension

whereas

the holy man

approaches the mysteries with humility
in spirituality meditation and prayer
reading the tracts of the great ones
understanding that some elements
of truth will always  be elusive

they can never be reduced
to mere formula and equations
will never be fully understood
the holy man  knows this

he can also be worldly enough
to remember to wear a sombrero
in the hot Mexican sun
such a simple concept
would be beyond some scientists

When the solution is simple. God is answering .
Albert Einstein

  1. Zing! Powerful piece. You leave a little room for some non-maddened scientists to appreciate the holy man and vice versa!

  2. Oh I so enjoyed this poem. Especially "some elements of truth ....can never be reduced to formula and equations. I am working on a short poem with much the same message, only from another angle. Synchronicity!

  3. Good one.

I do miss Pope Benedict. He didn't have the 'image' but boy did he have the wisdom.

  6. Glory be...thank goodness someone got the joke...he is a sweet old thing...he never wanted to be Pope...all he wanted to do was to look around the antiquities and historical sites of Rome in his remaining years.. He had been ensconced in the Vatican for years and had never seen them...he had to take up the position...none of them can refuse really...and now he is too frail and sick ...shame!
