I left my socks and shoes there

This is my favourite; I hope I've got it right.

It's the hole in each ear, that gives us the fear,
that, and the absence of light.
Things that go bump in the night can be scary.LOL. I hope you are being vigilant there all alone in the French wilderness.Those French country lasses are probably hiding in the bushes ready to crash tackle you:)
