For The Weekend

a beautiful winter sun
dies softly into the plains
the bird song ceases
the stillness fades
as night falls on the ancient vastness

this is my last day here for a while
i leave you and my other dreams
snug and warm in this little farm house
until i return

you know
sometimes
sometimes you just take my breath away

  5. I hear the sadness in your lines, Rallentanda, the nostalgia for this place before it has been left. I am sure you will return again & rediscover the same beauty. Nicely penned.

  9. A beautiful ode to the place and space that holds a special place in the heart. I fully believe in thanking the Spirit of a space when we enter and when we leave. I have no doubt a Spirit respected says connected to our hearts with a clear intention of support wherever we might take ourselves.

  10. Don't know where you are - but I know the great American plains and it always takes my breath away; it always inspires my poetry. Beautiful work here. Well done!

  11. I think if we leave the wish to come back we leave pebbles on the path to find our way back...

  12. Your last stanza, conversational but beautifully balanced, is gorgeous. And it could be addressed to the landscape, or a person. It works either way. Lovely.

  13. Love. Poem and song. How wonderful that first the bird song fades and then the silence! I'd love to hear the sounds of this night. Poetry, most likely.
