RIP

this is my special place
where i walk
when i am happy
when i am sad
when i feel lonely

i have no reason to feel sorry
for myself or to be sad
my woes are  nothing
in the scheme of things

i feel sad for those poor  souls
blown out of the sky in seconds
flying souls so young
never knowing a complete life
older couples taking the dream holiday
doctors en route to an aids conference
and sister philomena

sister philomena
of  the sacred heart convent rose bay
who will be missed by her girls
whose kindness will illuminate
the night sky in the heavens

i am lucky
i am alive
they are all dead
there is only space for light and love
in my secret glade
in its beautiful solitariness

may they all rest in peace
Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine: lux perpetua luceat eis

    1. Sister Philomena taught many of Sydney' s Eastern Suburbs Catholic girls and their daughters. She was a kind and giving person and a true testament to her vocation and the Catholic faith. More than 200 people attended her requiem Mass at St Mary Magdalene's Church Rose Bay on Saturday morning.

  2. That bundle of objects...the immaculately preserved bag of passports...and the relatives having to cope with the foul aspects of this murder as wel as their loss.

  3. To have made a mistake is one thing, to have scant regard to the crash scene is inexcusable. The world is appalled because the world is appalling. This tragedy affects us all.

  4. it is just mind blowing at times...what we putour world through in the quest for what...why did they have to die? and what of all those waiting at home...of their families...and for what? ugh.

  5. Poignant writing, Rallentanda. So very sad about Sister Philomena. And I know that each of these crash victims has a story, a life that has been cut short, a dream they will now never fufill and people left behind who will hurt forever. And, yes, may they rest in peace.

  6. RIP. Taking that sorrow and bewilderment to a place that brings you peace is essential. This poem speaks for many of us who you anchor with your words of one you know.

  11. A tragic event made even sadder through your putting Sister Philomena's face on it, to personalize it and bring home to us the persons whose stories were all cut short so senselessly. Heavy hearts everywhere this week, Rallentanda. Your poem has great impact.
