Athena
she destroyed medusa's beauty
snakes were placed in her hair
raped by poseidon, to cruel gaze
she turned them to stone -hey stare!
hated
then humiliated
unfazed
by imminent defeat
head lopped , perseus's duty
discharged, in a heart beat

athena blamed her
turned her into a monster
put snakes in her lovely hair
women were scapegoats
for everything that went wrong
in everyone's lives
twenty first century and
not too much has changed really
