We Are Stardust

we know
there are too few
acts of love

she
the silent witness
powers through
the diurnal brutality
with boadicean might
brilliant at dodging arrows
immune to the onslaught

the only chink in the armour
is love
shattering the warrior to sobs
when witnessing genuine goodness
rare acts of kindness and affection

all
a reminder
of how far removed
we are from the garden

Wow. Yes. A chink in the armor is definitely love, but I'm still glad there is a chink ... although I am also grateful for Boadicea. And I am a total fan of this song!

  4. Love can hurt - especially if it is an unknown quantity to us..far easier to put on armour and dodge arrows than accept a hug - for this old tortoise at least ;)

  5. This is beautiful Rail. It is powerful in its message of love. You used some wonderful lines here. The music is great too, but I so much appreciate your poem.

  8. Whew! Deep and dark and wonderful, Rall. No matter how strong we make our carapace it only takes one chink wrought by love to make us vulnerable and mortal and capable of suffering fatal wounds...
