Hi from my little cottage on Sydney Harbour.
( I wish!) LOL
Actually this was the assistant lighthouse keeper's cottage
at South Head until 1933
Poor guy having to suffer these digs.
Sunday At South Head

we become complacent
about such beauty
on our door step

having recommend this walk
to a tourist
i decided to brave
the school holiday crowd
drag myself this afternoon
away from the comfort
of books furs and fire
to do the walk
from camp cove to south head

captain arthur phillip
must have gasped in awe
as he entered the heads
for the first time
we still do

the roar of the waves
still hold the cries of souls
shipwrecked on the rocks
more than a century ago
we sit eating our salad sandwiches
on the same rock seat we did as kids
staring into the waves
back then
wondering what was beyond the horizon
eager to search for greener pastures
until
we realised much later
we were sitting on as green as you can get

PS
i must make the time
to do this more often
in the winter
Cheers to my readers

It is so hard to get out - but often uplifting when we do - as it seems to be here - also love the conclusion that we are on the green grass! Hope you have a snuggly Sunday from here on in.. refreshed and renewed from your adventure
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely pictures coupled with an equally lovely poem :D

now...such inviting lines to the magical place :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your adventure with us. It looks so cold there we are enjoying summer. Try and stay warm
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this so much. I love the beach best in winter when the waves are wild and the shore deserted. It is the best time!
ReplyDeleteLove that you braved the cold to discover such beauty! Those are the most rewarding and memorable journeys!
ReplyDeleteBilly Connolly said that there is no such thing as bad weather, just poor clothing choices. You chose well. And we all must get out and move; you have a lovely place to do it in.
ReplyDeleteSo you like me pointy 'at then ! S'pose you'll rush out and buy one the same:)
DeleteTerribly jealous - my head sock doesn't have a pom-pom.
DeleteSamuel Johnson said "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life". Clearly he had never been to Sydney.

Good to remember what one has on one's very own doorstep.

ReplyDeleteCheers to you! What a beautiful place. Indeed it gets no greener than that. Glad you enjoyed yourself and thanks for the pictures.
