heartbreaking

on this you tube clip
so many alone
in a society devoid
of compassion and humanity
sinking fast into the abyss
when it comes to what really matters
yep...old human needs
solitude is a luxury for those
who have someone wonder
where they are when they
don't come home at night
“Having someone wonder where you are when you don't come home at night is a very old human need. ”
― Margaret Mead
That last stanza has such impact........I do wonder, when I finally topple over, how long it will be before anyone finds me. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest reason that I don't celebrate my own birthdate, too many bad memories and illnesses, on this particular day, in February. Would join you, in a tub of ice cream, but my dietary restrictions won't allow it. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI love what you express here. I love my solitude but I'm aware that I've never lived alone. I have several friends who do. They seem ok with it, but I know they'd rather have only moments of solitude versus a life alone.
ReplyDeleteVery powerful
ReplyDeleteLove the last stanza
That is so true that is where solitude ends and loneliness starts
if you have no-one to care That is so sad
Thanks for that
This caused me to pause as there is indeed a difference depending on the situation.
ReplyDeleteI advise them to take up writing; mind you the bed is still not warm in winter.
ReplyDeleteYou depict an interesting view here, Rall. Solitude can feel like loneliness, indeed, when there's no-one waiting at home for your return. It therefore, seem a luxury. But we must allow ourselves the indulgence once in a while, nonetheless. Great write, and thought-provoking piece!
ReplyDeleteI too am alone, but at this point prefer it. Your poem, though, is highly effective. If I didn't show up here on Wednesdays, I think someone would check on me. I cherish this!
ReplyDeleteProvocative piece Rall. Yes indeed Not everyone lulls into solitude, picking up quill or paintbrush or prayerbook.
ReplyDeleteThe situation of solitude is loaded with it share of loning and stress
Happy you dropped by my blog
Much🌻love
You last stanza hits hard. How many people do NOT have someone to wonder about them when they don't show up? Too many, I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteSolitude and loneliness seem to wear the same face, depending on the person's situation. When we choose it, Solitude is such a blessing. But when we have no choice... *sigh* the same blessing is a curse that makes a heart in pain.
