an afternoon
with you
under a blanket
by a cosy fire
drinking hot chocolate
rain tinkling
on the window
an accompaniment
to lestyn's exquisite voice
making winter weather
magical
the perfect afternoon
oh and guess who's
getting better socks
as a birthday gift
you're welcome !

That does sound like a lovely day! I've not seen slippers like those before! I wonder if he (I picture the one getting socks as a "he"), will wear better socks, or hang on to the old familiar holey ones?
ReplyDeleteI love wintry poems from Oz .... especially yours!
ReplyDeleteA fun afternoon, one likes of which I haven't known. Love your closing lines, an abrupt three line which changes the scene and thought.
ReplyDeleteWould/could it classify as a tercet?

Heaven indeed!
ReplyDeleteSo many simple pleasures are indeed heavenly - Jae
ReplyDeleteNever underestimate the value of a great pair of warm socks. My favorite are purple and green
ReplyDeleteWhich is "better," the well-worn classic knitted socks or the wacky sewn-and-stuffed slippers? Both are useful and therefore doubly beautiful...

Lovely! Excellent afternoon indeed...
ReplyDeleteI'll take that hot chocolate and those warm, silly socks.
