What's Going On

                                                         ADELE ALEXANDRINE LUDIVINE

my grandmother
in the kitchen
always wore a big apron
singing tino rossi songs and
chopping vegetables
her little helper watching
learning the secrets
of french cuisine
very important she said
for good health and
for catching a good husband
never leave stalks on the parsley
never make mayonnaise
when there's a full moon
i inherited
a lot of eccentricity
from my grandmother
i think

  1. I did, too - and her wild cackle. I love seeing and reading about your grandma - they were such characters - so full of personality and life wisdom. I like the tip bout the parsley. Smiles. And that she sang in the kitchen. When I was younger, I did, too.

  2. Sounds wonderful! I especially like the bits of her wisdom that you include. Eccentric, indeed!

  3. "singing tino rossi songs and
chopping vegetables"....How lovely! What a jolly old soul! I wish I was a 'little helper' too but that I never was. I was always so mischievous. Sigh.

  5. I love the sound of your grandmother, Rall. Mine also wore a big apron and sang in the kitchen. Don’t all grandmothers have those kind of old wives’ tales like ‘never leave stalks on the parsley’ and ‘never make mayonnaise when there's a full moon’? Eccentricity is the best trait to inherit.

  6. Never make mayonnaise when there's a full moon? Ha, I never heard that one. Of course, my gram was Irish. She didn't really cook, but boy, could she drink!!
