ReplyDeleteAs often as I tell myself "Stop with the news" it's next to impossible not to be touched by everything happening world wide. We will survive seems to be my "go-to mantra."

ReplyDeleteThe news should be called "olds" for they bring up the same old stories of greed, enmity, madness, horror and the never-ending stories of humans inhumanity to other living things...
ReplyDeleteOn the one hand it's true that "The Morning Alarm & Despondency" (a.k.a. Washington Post) did use to have an invigorating effect on Washingtonians who were mostly well paid, well connected, and well intentioned, and liked few things better than to make a call here and send a check there to relieve other people's distress.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, the commercial media do try to commercialize the sensational, and reading a whole newspaper can get to feel like doomscrolling.
How terrible for her, getting old isn't fun for her and others too.
