When Jane presented the results of her research to Cambridge University academics fell about about clutching their mortarboards scandalised that she had given the chimpanzees names rather than numbers. Hearty uproarious laughter and joy filled the jungle air when she graduated.
her legacy
an overflow of love
compassion and care for the earth
her passing
a great loss to the world
I love the laughter in the jungle - the best recognition of her work by those who knew her best back then - the chimps of Gombe. Each with its perfect name. A great loss to the world - but she showed us just what love, humilty and dedication can do.
ReplyDeleteHer passing is indeed a great loss to the world.
ReplyDeleteWhat more is there to say - you have incapsulated so much in your remembrance - Jae
ReplyDeleteMay 'her legacy' live on in many more hearts. You've said everything in such a tiny space.
ReplyDelete" Brevity is the soul of wit " :)
