we said we would remain friends
hoping to stem the gushing
blood flow from the massive wounds
we had inflicted on each other
our devastation too awful to face
we say wished for truths to each other
to salve the agony to unscramble the egg
and as we look up at the sky
we see those pink piggies flying
No kidding. That 'friends' stuff usually lasts about 24 hours--it ain't happenin. Like the way you got your message across here with the bare minimum of vivid image.
ReplyDeletehaha when pigs fly...yeah we can inflict some pretty terrible wounds on each other in friendships....
ReplyDeleteVery intense!
ReplyDeletehedgewitch's comment makes me smile as i just thought the same when reading your...we remain friends line...love the pink piggies at the end..drives it home nicely
ReplyDelete"friends"... I hope I'm never "friends" with another ex again.
