i look out on to the blue sky and palms
leaves in flutter so autumn intense
three more short weeks i drive back to the farm
must be ageing losing my common sense
city vibes sing ' i want to stay longer '
chill out, drink lattes, talk crap become dense
if i don't get a little bit stronger
my life could become trite ditzy and bland
with lots more time to twitter and ponder
when may bush and olives scent my small hands
the skies, stars and silence searing my soul
time slips away like crushed shell in the sand
outback and city, a part of my life
so - just as well i'm a patient man's wife
There is no harm being torn between the two. Love and enjoy both of them. I cannot imagine you being ditzy!

ReplyDeleteIt is becoming harder dividing life between the two but I have had both for so long it is going to be difficult when I finally have to choose one day.
Choice is a good theme for a poem. Did you see " Sophie's Choice"?.Imagine having to make a choice like that!
I know what you mean... it seems the two grows more and more and more apart. Cities become larger and larger, and just to leave take hours. Best would be to be able to have both.. Like your poem, and I agree choice is a great theme for a poem
ReplyDeleteThank you Bjorn. In Sydney at peak hour (rush hour)the traffic is absolutely horrendous. We leave late at night or early afternoon (8 hour drive)This is a relatively short drive in Australia. The distances are vast.

ReplyDeleteI certainly appreciate this. One of the reasons I chose to move to Auckland was that it's a spread out city, so I live in a rural township, but only 40 minutes from the downtown city centre (I will have my cake and eat it!)
