Ode To The Harbour Bridge

you stand there
like a big
coat hanger
surveying all
around you
many choosing
to use you rather
than the tunnel
hidden underneath
the ferries
and the bobbing waves
for the daily commute
busy moving ants
on a wire
bustling back and forth
all day long
joining the north
to the south
chalk and cheese
staring brazenly
at the east
who see it
as part of a
personal possession
enjoyed from
the dining table
swimming pool
or the deck
of an expensive boat
used infrequently
spending
the rest of  the time
as a sad solitary
host to a
flock of seagulls
on its lonely mooring
