Desert Folk

poetry jam: dverse

we come from the desert country
our women stay indoors
wear veils when outside
they are blissfully happy
they always say this
when being interviewed on the tv

we give them a bit of a thrashing
when they get out of line
we do that to the camels as well
in a caring way for their own good

we cut off their clits so they
don't get too horny with roving eyes
we reluctantly allow them to use slits
in their head covering for visibility purposes
we would blindfold them as well but then they
could not not do the shopping

we ride camels and live in tents
sing songs on the sand like our forefathers
we follow " the religion of peace"

we cannot understand why the kaffir
do not want to accept our ways and be like us
they would be so much happier, especially the women

sometimes we have to remind them of what they are missing
with a few well placed bombs in the tube or in planes
to bring them to their senses
we do this in the spirit of peace and love
and for the benefit of mankind

  1. apparently this appears to be all true but the root is much deeper....a unique desert story nicely done....

  2. This is so powerful. Thank you for writing a perhaps difficult piece with so many truths and ironies.

    1. It would be difficult to argue that the ones who blow up trains and planes perform female genital mutilation and award jail terms for cohabitation adultery atheism and homosexuality might take the prize for the most scary even in our politically correct world where all fundamentalists are considered equal !

  7. This made me giggle - awful I know - as awful as the things, the truth, of which you write.
What a sad species we are.
