to be poor and old in australia
is not a place to be
with our latest christian leader
who would prefer the aged lived overseas
they are taking up space and resources
are past there use by date
tony abbot would rather they exit now
and take up residence in space
john and yoko
have a lot to answer for
some oldies
never got over the 60s
the grandchildren
just don't understand this
as a graduation gift
I was married just after John and Yoko in Gibraltar (purely by coincidence). The Registrar said "She was just like a little Rat".
ReplyDeleteDon't tell anyone I told you that!
20th March 1969. Wonder if Cecil Wheeler is still around. If I had have known the date of your wedding anniversary I would have sent you over some propa tucka ( vegemite lamingtons and meat pies)...poor bugga having to eat all that frog food! LOL
DeleteI could manage old age with a PM's pension...
ReplyDeleteto be poor anywhere is not the place to be...there are plenty who share the same view of the poor...thinking themselves immune to it....
ReplyDeleteI hope your PM does not age well himself! LOL at John and Yoko picture. Kind of a depressing thought really.
ReplyDeleteThe 60s!! Many turning points in my life that decade ... stay healthy, my friend!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, John and Yoko. I am with Helen. That decade was influential. And John and Yoko were a part of the scene.
ReplyDeleteSock it to Tony, girl! What an ungrateful attitude for society to have, huh?
ReplyDeleteI know...people wanting food and shelter are just so unreasonable. I mean if they had any stamina or wherewithall they could become corporate criminals or politicians and live in luxury.
ReplyDeleteThere is some incredible fantasy thinking going on with many leaders, usually involving shipping whatever ills society has can be shipped somewhere else. Yikes! Great write here, and John and Yoko...what a flashback :-)
ReplyDeletePoliticians are so disingenuous and seem to exclude themselves and their families from the tough policies they enact for the rest of the populace. "All animals are equal but some are more equal than others..."
ReplyDeleteGreat pieces, Rall
